Regensburg University
Hospital, Germany

30 years ago we developed, within the framework of a master and target plan, the structural and functional foundations for building the Regensburg University Hospital. Building upon these developments the hospital grew in the following decades, and in 2002 the MES® (Medical Supply Control) method was introduced. The duration of our engagement from investment planning to controlling operating costs has now been over three decades.

Lukas Hospital
Neuss, Germany

Since the development of medical-economic control systems for hospitals and university clinics approx. 15 years ago the methods of process-oriented economic consulting are being introduced to many medical facilities. A typical example of such a facility is the Lukas Hospital in Neuss where the MES® (Medical Supply Control) method and Standard Operating Procedures (StOP®) have been introduced over the last ten years.

LKH Klagenfurt
(State Hospital Klagenfurt),
Austria

The LKH in Klagenfurt is the general hospital of the state of Carinthia (Austria) and provides the highest levels of medical care for approx. 600,000 people. This hospital was initially marked by fragmented organisational and functional structures in which the basic conditions for new devices, furniture and organisation had to be developed from scratch.

In 1999, Lohfert & Lohfert AS developed a master plan for the facility that thoroughly rearranged the organisational structures and provided the basis for redesigning the building. This project was a milestone for us insofar as it helped to develop new attitudes for process-oriented designs of hospital functions, established fundamentally changed function principles and worked out room and function programmes for a 2001 architectural competition. This project, with a total budget of approx. EUR 270 million, is currently entering its final phase.

Central Authority for
the Assignment of
University Places
(Zentralstelle für
die Vergabe von
Studienplätzen, ZVS)

Within the context of our contract research programme we have carried out a large empirical research project. The main emphasis had been put on determining new definitions for capacity regulation parameters, in reference to both staff and patients. As a result the number of available university places for studying human medicine was significantly reduced.
