Duesseldorf
University Hospital

The Duesseldorf University Hospital has been our longest medical research facility client. In 1971, we began developing a master plan to depict an integrated plan of the structural and functional situation in the future that was accepted by the Science Board as fundamental for making decisions in the years to come.
During the following 30 years, the master plan was continually updated, modified and adjusted to reflect progress in medicine.

In numerous other projects dedicated to greatly improved performance and economy of the hospital, we were responsible for changes to the organization, detailed structuring, development of laboratory concepts and other specialist issues.

The body responsible for running the university hospital asked in April 1998 whether it was possible to support economical restructuring of the hospital with the help of our self-developed methods. Christoph Lohfert, CEO of Lohfert & Lohfert, was called to participate in a so-called “Inner Medical Board” in May 1998 which was to plan and carry out the economic redevelopment within a few months with the help of “Medical Supply Control” (MES®).

After the redevelopment, the "Medical Supply Control" tool remains in the Duesseldorf University Hospital to the effect that in the following 5 years a cumulated revenue growth of around 40 million € (compared with the initial situation) is reached.

In the years that followed, starting from Duesseldorf University Hospital, Medical Supply Control (MES®) was used to reorganize the medical research centres Charité and Benjamin Franklin in Berlin, University Hospital Hamburg, Medical University Hannover, University Hospital Regensburg, University Hospital Grosshadern and others.
